Fun Back to the Future/Eric-Stolz-Sucks Fact after the jump:
Eric Stolz was originally cast as Marty McFly, though he was not the director’s first choice. Michael J. Fox was, but could not work out a deal due to his commitment to the TV show Family Ties. Thursday night, must-see-TV line up: The Cosby Show –> Family Ties –> Cheers —> Night Court. If you’re my age, you know you watched it.
Stolz filmed more than a few key scenes before his sucking become so apparent that they had to fire him. Fox was wooed again, and this time was able to convince his NBC employers that he could do both: He was Alex P. Keaton by day and Marty McFly by night.
Lloyd + Stolz = chemistry, negative. Lloyd + Fox = 88 miles per hour.
